Change of Plans

One thing we learned on our trip was to be flexible and patient.  God has thrown us a new curve.  I am sure many of you have thought we would be starting our second loop by now.  However, on my final appointment getting ready to leave I learned I have a new mass in my abdomen that wasn’t there 6 months ago.  I have a history of Appendix Cancer.  After an unsuccessful needle biopsy 2 weeks ago. So yesterday Dr. Onesti did a Laparoscopy. She identified that the cancer has returned in only one localized area. I am in store for surgical removal of this mass and checking the entire abdomen for any other spots, then Hipec *Hot Chemo therapy they place in my belly for one and a half hours.*

Good news:  It has been almost 2 years since the first occurrence.

Good news: Because of the length of time between first and second surgery, I am able to have Hipec again which is the only good chemo treatment for this Cancer.

Good News:  Having a recurrence does not decrease my longevity.

As many of you have read on this blog, we planned to do a second loop which is obviously not going to happen THIS year. God know best he has his reasons.  It helps us to know he always is in control and I accept that wholeheartedly.

This is just a bump in the road that we have to get over.

We also will not be able to speak at the AGLCA Rendezvous which makes me sad.  We had so looked forward to sharing some wisdom we learned along the way.  I will likely be in the hospital and thinking of all who will be there, learning and enjoying each other’s company.  Have fun at the Polo match.  It was a ton of fun last year. We hope to get back on the docket next year, Lord willing.

I will be keeping people informed about my health status on my Caring Bridge Page rather than this page.  So please go log in and find my name.  You will then get a notice when something new has been posted by either myself or my family when I am unable to.

Thank you all for following our page.  We will be back at it before you know it.
