About Scott and Karen’s Great Loop Adventure.

In August or September we will cast off our dock at Lake Shore Yacht Harbor in Muskegon.  We will make our way to Chicago and start the “Great Loop”

We have both retired and sold our home and bought a Mainship 390 (Which means it is 39’ long.) We plan to do the Loop in one year.  We will take the river system out of Chicago to Mobile Bay.  We will the follow the intracostal waterway to Florida.  We will do an ocean crossing to cut across the panhandle of Florida.  The brunt of our winter will be spent in Florida. No one can complain about that.   If we get brave we may even go to the Bahamas (weather permitting.)  In the spring we head up the Atlantic Intracostal Waterway.  After we see the magnificent Statue of Liberty we will find the Hudson River and head north to the Erie Canal.  The Canal will take us to Lake Ontario up into the Trent Severn Waterway in Canada.  We eventually will end up in the Georgian Bay, and then North Channel and back into the Lake Michigan to “cross our wake” back in Muskegon about a year later.
